State's Tennis Aces Head to Beaches for USTA State Championships

GULF SHORES and ORANGE BEACH, Ala. – Top tennis aces from across Alabama will converge on the state’s beautiful beaches for the USTA Alabama League State Tri-Level Championships, which is set for September 24th through 27th.

The Peninsula will serve as the host site for this Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission event. Matches are set to be played at The Peninsula, The Beach Club and the City of Gulf Shores courts on Thursday through Sunday. Matches begin daily at 7:30 a.m. and should conclude around 6:00 p.m.

To qualify for this tournament, players ranging in age from 19 to 90 won their local leagues in cities throughout the state.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission will welcome these upcoming events: Make a Wish Ride for Wishes (October 2-4), 2009 Shrimp Festival Volleyball Invitational (October 9-10), USSSA Gulf Coast Baseball Championship (October 10-11), IFA Redfish Tour Gulf Division Fishing Tournament (October 17) and the USTA Southern Combo Doubles Senior/Super Senior (October 22-25).
